Bach Wen Farm and Cottages

Bach Wen is the site of the farm for the Historic Monastery of Clynnog Fawr on the beautiful Lleyn Peninsular. We lie on the North Wales Herritage Coast and on the edge of The Snowdonia National Park. The Farmhouse and seven stone cottages offer outstanding views in all directions, lying between our own beach with views of Anglesey, and the Mountains of Snowdonia.

Our cottages accommodate between 2 and 14 people. Village amenities are within walking distance and Caernarfon, Pwllheli and Snowdon are all within 20 minutes by car.

The Bakery (Sleeps 2)

This is one of the oldest parts of the farm and offers a cosy intimacy for two. The hearth, chimney and original heavy black beams and white ceiling have been retained. The bedroom, with double bed, has windows facing both Snowdon and the sea. The fully tiled shower room includes a vanity unit and WC.

The fitted oak kitchen is gaily tiled and equipped in red.

The lounge area with comfortable armchairs, electric fire and radiator, is lit by lanterns and spotlights. The two doors lead to a small walled garden with patio.

Cadvan (Sleeps 4/6)

We have named out luxury mobile home in honour of Prince Cadvan, one of the elite Welsh princes of c1400 AD who governed in North Wales and was a "fair and just man".

Cadvan is a 30 foot mobile home sited on the edge of the farm complex with a panoramic view towards Snowdon. It is fully plumbed and has gas, mains water and electricity. It has a shower/WC, kitchen area, bunk bedroom, double bedroom, lounge area and separate dining area. The settee can also serve as two single beds.

The Boat House (Sleeps 5)

The south end of this cottage adjoins the bakery and again is one of the oldest parts of the complex. It was originally used for raising pigs for table meat in the days when Bach Wen was a Monastery Farm. The external remains of the pig sty remains as a feature garden. The north end of the cottage is the old life boat house.

The Accommodation comprises a double bedroom, bedroom with bunk beds, and a single bedroom in a half gallaried area above the comfortable lounge/dining room. A bathroom and fully equipped kitchen are also provided.

The Stables (Sleeps 5)

This is a single-level cottage with timber poled barn roof and three-foot-thick stone walls and is ideal for a family of any age. There are two bedrooms, one at each end of the cottage, one with double bed, the other with bunks and a single bed.

It has a shower unit (not bath), WC, fully equipped kitchen area and a comfortable lounge/dining area.

Brochwell (Sleeps 6)

Brochwell cottage offers views on three sides of meadows, hills and the sea with a lawned area surrounded by a stone wall at the rear.

Upstairs are three bedrooms, one with a double bed, the second with twin beds and the third bunk beds. There is a bathroom/WC and large airing cupboard.

Downstairs is open plan, enjoying sunlight until evening. The sitting area faces south and has a stone hearth and wall, and two chair beds. There is a slate clad partition wall with a convenient hatch through to the well-equipped kitchen.

The Granary (Sleeps 8/10)

One cannot fail to be impressed by the 27' by 18' sitting room with its comfortable seating  (including a double sofa bed), stone hearth, exposed beam ceiling and three arched windows facing the sea.

There are two large bedrooms on the ground floor, one double with wash-hand basin and cot, the other twin bedded. There is also the recent addition of a downstairs shower room / toilet.

Access to the first floor is via an open pine staircase to a further bedroom with a double and a single bed, bathroom/WC, storage cupboards and an additional divan on the galleried landing.

Cynan Farmhouse (Sleeps 12/14)

The farmhouse is ideal for large families or groups of people who like to holiday together.

There is a large kitchen/dining area with a central table to seat 12/15 persons. The kitchen is fully equipped to cater for these large numbers and there is a lounge (including a sofa-bed) looking out on to the walled garden and the sea less than 50 yards away. There is also a downstairs bedroom with three single beds.

Upstairs the Accommodation comprises a bedroom with one single and one double bed, another with one double and two single beds and a third with a double bed. Two cots are provided and can be placed where desired. The sleeping accommodation can be modified to suit your needs.

There is a downstairs toilet and upstairs bathroom/WC.
